  • 1 Cup SUGAR
  • 1 Cup FLOUR
  • ½ Cup COCOA
  • Pinch of SALT
  • 1 Cup HOT WATER
  • 1 teaspoon BAKING SODA
  • ¼ Cup (1/2 Stick) BUTTER
  • 1 EGG
  • 1 teaspoon VANILLA
  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, sift your dry ingredients - Sugar, Flour, Cocoa and Salt.
  3. In a small bowl, add the butter. When your water is boiling hot, add it to the butter bowl.
  4. When the butter is completely melted, add the baking soda - it will get foamy.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk in your egg.
  6. When combined, whisk in the vanilla.
  7. Pour batter into a buttered and floured cake pan. Or, if you're making cupcakes, pour into cupcake tins.
