I started my professional culinary career after my 25th birthday when I realized that the software industry was not my calling. I cashed in my 401K, went to the CIA in Hyde Park, NY and unbeknownst to me, carved the path to my family. After working in a restaurant in Italy, I came home and got a job in Manhattan opening up the hugely popular and very busy BaBBo. My husband Andy and I met while cooking in the kitchen there almost 15 years ago. The days were short and the nights were long, as dinner service bled into post-work cocktails which bled into watching the sun rise over Manhattan. We realized that we wanted to start our future and so we did: I quit, we got married, had two adorable babies, and now live in the ‘burbs. There’s a perception out there that as a professional chef, I’m always feeding my family gourmet healthy meals every day. In actuality, I’m only trying to get food on the table…..and fast. Before all hell breaks loose.
